A very nice book on Tiki for those getting their feet wet in Tiki drinks and culture. While there are more serious (yes, Tiki and serious can go together) books on the subject, they are far the more advanced and/or slightly pedantic compared to this one. It lays out the story of Trader Vic, the cocktails and food, and of course, lots of drink (about 100) and food (35) recipes.
A nice point about this book is it explains bartending and food prep techniques and how-to’s for a more successful party, and has photos of how everything should look when done (a good confidence builder and visual check). Slightly larger square format makes it an easy it easy to prop open for consultation while mixing/cooking.
Also you will find non-alcoholic drinks, bowl drinks, and assorted other libations.
In general a very well done book for those wanting to start down the path of Tiki culture – even for just an afternoon or evening.
